Assumption High School was founded in 1955 by the Sisters of Mercy. Located at 2170 Tyler Lane, the school brings together almost 1000 young women, grades 9-12, in a Catholic environment. Assumption is one of only 41 schools in the nation to receive the U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award three times and the only high school in Louisville named a Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School.

Assumption High School is:
Committed to providing an individualized education to each and every student through fluid academic levels, a wide variety of courses, faculty that go above and beyond, and countless programs designed to meet individual needs. Beginning freshman year, girls have the opportunity to choose a fine arts elective and choose to take their first AP course (AP Human Geography); students can ‘major’ in any discipline by taking all elective courses in the same core subject area; students are encouraged to take the most challenging course of study.
Accredited by the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools and the Kentucky Department of Education.
One of twelve schools in the nation to be honored with the National Catholic Education Association's Innovations in Education Award in 2005.
One of eight schools to receive the RAMP award for Assumption's model counseling program from the American School Counselor Association.
The first school to receive the Beacon of Hope Award, Making a Difference Award from the Learning Disabilities Association of Kentucky.
The Class of 2008:
Received more than $12.3 million in college scholarships for 60% of students, including 542 scholarships from 63 colleges and universities and 11 organizations and companies.
Sent 99% of students on to college.
Graduated seven students who were recognized by the National Merit Corporation.
Yielded 13 students who were accepted to the Governor’s Scholars Program.
Produced seven students who were accepted to the Governor’s School for the.
Produced 10 Kentucky Department of Education Commonwealth Diploma recipients.
Yielded eight AP Scholars.
Graduated one Girls Nation Participant.
Produced one Congressional Art Award winner.
Had one recipient of the American Voices and Visions Award from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.
Graduated one student designated by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards as a Spirit of Excellence Award winner who also earned the President’s Volunteer Service Award.
