John H. Morgan Charitable Trust Scholarship
The Catholic Education Foundation's John H. Morgan Charitable Trust Scholarship
We are proud to recognize our 2008 recipient of The Catholic Education Foundation's John H. Morgan Charitable Trust Scholarship. She is Kari Amon. This scholarship is awarded to one senior from each of the Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of Louisville and recognizes a senior who plans to major in law, medicine, religion, science, or education, and demonstrates outstanding academic achievement, student involvement, leadership, and service. The goal of this scholarship is to assist a motivated and talented student to pursue her educational goals.
Kari Amon embodies these characteristics. An academically engaged student, Kari graduated from Assumption on May 17, and received the Kentucky Department of Education’s Commonwealth Diploma and the President’s Education Award. With involvements ranging from National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Beta Club, to being a leader with the Global Issues Club where she raised awareness and funds for relief of those affected by the genocide in Darfur, Kari pursues her experiences with unbridled enthusiasm and conviction. Kari has also demonstrated her belief in service leadership as a retreat leader of an overnight retreat to underclasswomen and as a peer leader who has committed to modeling a substance-free lifestyle.
With her passionate commitment to social justice, her pursuit of extracurriculars that enhance and promote development of self and others, and her quiet leadership skills, we are confident of Kari’s continued success in college and certain that she will be a strong representative of Assumption High School and The John H. Morgan Charitable Trust.
